Bestow your friends and loved ones with your witty sense of humor by making them a customized set of cute and funny fortune cookies! With this quick method, you can upgrade the message of a store-bought fortune cookie in seconds. This would be a clever idea for special occasions (like Valentine’s Day or when you want to make a big announcement). Scaled up, these would even be great as homemade party favors for weddings, showers, and birthdays. At the end of the day it’s hard to say what’s better: watching someone’s amusement while they crack one of these open, or their reaction as they read your words. Perhaps it’s one in the same :)
At a loss for words? Then check out my post on cute suggestions for Valentine’s Day and anniversaries (including a downloadable template!).
Customized Fortune Cookies
Yield: 12 cookies
Active Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 12 minutes
12 pre-made fortune cookies (available at most grocery stores or online)
12 pre-written notes on 2.5″ x 0.5″ (6 cm x 1.5 cm) sheets of paper
1) Roll a fortune cookie in a damp cloth and microwave on high for 15-20 seconds.
2) The cookie will be soft for only about 10 seconds, so during this time, quickly remove the original fortune and replace it with your note. Repeat for each cookie (or in batches if you’re fast!).
Gifting Idea:
These cookies are versatile enough that they could be gifted in any sort of container. If it is for one person, place the the fortune cookies in a cute tin or take-out box. For party favors, package each one up in a small gift bag and secure with a ribbon. Just be sure to keep them from getting crushed, since you don’t want the cookies to break (that is, without the assistance from your gift recipient!).
What about you? Are there any other ideas on where you could use these, or sayings you could write?
these would be great for the upcoming Chinese New Year! You could put in nice proverbs like He Who Has One Chopstick Eat The Slowest.
:-) Haha.
What a great idea! I like “Always be on the lookout for conspicuousness.” :)
These are adorable little cookies. I literally laughed at loud at the puppies fortune cookie!!!! A great opportunity for fun and creativity - and mischief!!!! I love this idea, Melissa. :-)
Thanks Shanna! I think this is definitely my favorite projects so far…there is so much you could do with these! :)
Or “Accept that some days you’re the pigeon, and some days you’re the statue.”
And “Avoid clichés like the plague!”
Don’t forget that “He who has the last laugh does not get the joke!”
Bahaha! You’re so wise…let’s quit our day jobs and work in a fortune cookie factory :)
Love it! Amazing trick. Thanks for the tip.
