Mega Omega Trail Mix
Yield: 2 cups
Active Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 c. pecans
1/2 c. pumpkin seeds
1/2 c. dried cranberries
1) Preheat oven to 350 F / 175 C.
2) On a foil-lined sheet tray, spread out the walnuts, pecans and pumpkin seeds in a single layer and bake for 5 minutes until slightly browned.
3) Allow to cool and toss with dried cranberries. To maintain freshness, store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 2 months.
For portability and handy access over a long trip, this trail mix will package up nicely in any resealable container or bag. For a truly unique idea, choose an interesting container, such as this “sardine can” from JB Prince (they sell them in large packs, but I was able to purchase just a few in their store for a dollar each). Practical for carrying, it also adds a fun and campy feel to this food gift.
